HMS Monmouth

The HMS Monmouth was a war ship that fought in the Battle of Coronel in World War 1. This battle was fought off the coast of Chile, and ultimately resulted in the loss of the ship and all souls aboard, 735 crew in total. It was only one of many ships lost in many wars, but on board was my Great-grand Uncle John Carty, he was only 21 years of age when he went down with the ship, on the 1st November 1914.

This story is dedicated to him and the rest of the crew of the HMS Monmouth

The story is available to listen to here and was broadcast on TCRFM on the 19th March 2016, many thanks to the Norman Graham show for featuring my work.
