Things my two year old has cried about today…

My youngest is two and a half – and we are in the height of toddler tantrums. She doesn’t know what she wants, but she definitely knows what she doesn’t want. And isn’t afraid to demonstrate emphatically. Here is a list of things that she has cried* about today:

  1. Waking up
  2. Not being able to decide what toy to bring downstairs
  3. Wanting to walk down the stairs
  4. Wanting to be carried down the stairs
  5. Not wanting cereal
  6. Not wanting toast
  7. Not having her banana presented to her cut up and in a bowl
  8. Having a cardigan on
  9. Having a coat on
  10. Having to get into the car
  11. Having to sit in her seat
  12. Having to get out of the car (No 10-12 please reread)
  13. She went to preschool for three hours here – presumably where she didn’t cry at all and was a model child
  14. Not being able to have biscuits for lunch
  15. Having a coat on
  16. Having to get into the car
  17. Having to sit in her seat
  18. Having to get out of the car (No 10-12 please reread)
  19. Not walking to school
  20. Not being allowed to walk on top of a three foot high wall
  21. Being taken off said wall to go home
  22. Not wanting to take off her coat
  23. Wanting a banana not cut up and put in a bowl
  24. Not wanting to eat the rest of her banana
  25. Wanting a new banana before the old one is gone

I’m going to leave this here, as it is only 2pm and we have until 7pm to go. Which would normally be bedtime, but tonight we are all out at her big brothers Christmas play, otherwise known as another festive tradition where parents of small children will spend an hour with the sweat rolling off them as their child refuses to sit down/not scream the place down/not injure themselves by climbing onto the stage to dive bomb off of it.

Hurrah.

*Cried = unnaturally high pitched scream designed to puncture and permanently damage ear drum of closet adult.
